CALL FOR NOMINATIONS:

THE 2010 ROGER N. BALDWIN MEDAL OF LIBERTY AWARD

Human Rights First is currently accepting nominations for the 2010 Roger N. Baldwin Medal of Liberty Award. Those involved in human rights throughout the world are encouraged to nominate individuals or organizations who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to international human rights advocacy. The award will be presented during a ceremony in New York City in the Spring of 2010 and the winner will receive a $25,000 prize.

Some criteria to consider and include when nominating an organization or individual:

· Whether the nominee's work is unique or particularly distinctive;

· Whether the nominee's work has been effective in advancing human rights in a country other than the United States ;

· Whether the nominee's work has been effective in advancing human rights internationally;

· Whether the nominee faces any risk or insecurity as a result of the work; and

· Whether the nominee would benefit significantly from receiving the Baldwin Award, either financially or as a result of publicity, in the form of enhanced protection, or in any other way.

A nomination form is attached. Nominations are due no later than January 29, 2010.

The Roger N. Baldwin Medal of Liberty Award, named in honor of the principal founder of the American Civil Liberties Union and the International League for Human Rights, was established in 1989 and is presented in alternating years by Human Rights First (awarded to international human rights advocates) and the ACLU (awarded to advocates in the United States).

Human Rights First está aceptando nominaciones para el premio Roger N. Baldwin Medalla de Libertad del 2010 para defensores y defensoras de los derechos humanos internacionales. Pedimos a todos los actores involucrados en la protección de los derechos humanos que nominen individuos u organizaciones que han demostrado un compromiso excepcional a la defensa de los derechos humanos internacionales. · Si el candidato/la candidata se encuentra en peligro o inseguridad a consecuencia de su trabajo;

· Si el candidato/la candidata beneficiaría de manera significativa del premio Roger N. Baldwin Medalla de Libertad, sea financieramente o a causa de la publicidad, en forma de protección o en cualquier otra forma.

El formulario de nominación está adjunto. Las nominaciones deben ser remitidas en inglés y deben recibirse por parte de Human Rights First antes del 29 de enero de 2010.

El premio Roger N. Baldwin Medalla de Libertad, llamado así por el fundador principal de La Unión Americana de Libertades Civiles (ACLU) y La Alianza Internacional por los Derechos Humanos (ILHR), se estableció en 1989 y se otorga en años alternos por Human Rights First (a activistas de derechos humanos internacionales) y la ACLU (a activistas de derechos humanos en de los Estados Unidos).
