- 印度尼西亚:政府被敦促保护阿玛迪亚信徒的权利 -- 一系列针对阿玛迪亚教派信徒的袭击事件再次引起外界的批评。一位研究宗教与民主的专家敦促政府在公民的人权受到侵害时应该运用国家机器对他们进行保护。
- 柬埔寨:政府突然袭击,房屋夷为平地 -- 在金边市鲁斯凯(Russey Keo)地区,20多个家庭突然房屋被毁。星期四上午,警察和政府工作人员们开着挖掘机,挥舞着斧头,在特洛伊长瓦(Chroy Changvar)半岛进行强制驱逐。
- 柬埔寨:国会重新就游行集会法进行辩论 -- 国会在星期一开会期间就政府有争议的关于非暴力游行集会法重新举行了辩论。反对党议员在辩论中对该法将会对和平游行集会者们的言论自由权利予以钳制而表示忧虑。
- 亚洲毒品使用者联合成立区域性组织 -- 2009年10月16日至17日,来自9个国家的超过25名毒品使用者在泰国曼谷相聚,确定了亚洲毒品使用者网络(ANPUD)的章程,并为第一个区域性毒品使用者网络选举了一个筹划指导委员会。ANPUD以毒品使用者有意义参与(MIPUD)的原则为基础,由毒品使用者们建立,在整个亚洲倡导毒品使用者的权利,统一毒品使用者社区的声音。ANPUD有来自亚洲各个地区的150多名成员,共同合作去影响那些影响他们生活的决策。
- Indonesia: Government urged to respect Ahmadiyah rights -- A series of attacks on followers of the Ahmadiyah religious sect has once again drawn criticism, with an expert in religion and democracy urging the government to exercise its authority when there are violations of human rights.
- Cambodia: Homes leveled in shock eviction -- More than 20 families from Phnom Penh’s Russey Keo district had their homes destroyed by police and government workers driving excavators and wielding axes in an eviction on Chroy Changvar peninsula Thursday morning.
- Cambodia: National Assembly reopens debate on Demonstration Law -- The debate on the government’s controversial Law on Nonviolent Demonstrations reopened during a session of the National Assembly on Monday, with opposition lawmakers again expressing concerns the law could be used to stifle freedom of expression for peaceful demonstrators.
- Asian drug users unite to form regional organization -- Over twenty-five drug users from nine different countries met in Bangkok on 16th and 17th October 2009 to finalize the Asian Network of People who Use Drugs (ANPUD) Constitution and elect a Steering Committee for the first regional network of people who use drugs. Based on the principles of Meaningful Involvement of People who Use Drugs (MIPUD), ANPUD has been setup by people who use drugs to advocate for the rights and unify the voices of their communities across Asia. ANPUD has over 150 members throughout the Asia region who are collaborating to influence decisions that affect their lives.
